Matariki Kites

This week we have studied the traditional shapes and styles of Maori Kites. As part of our Matariki celebrations we have made our own kites and tested them out. We enjoy learning about our history and traditions. We are exploring how being a great learner often is a result of not getting things right the first time. Sometime we have to try many different ways to be successful. We had a lot of fun in between the down pores of rain!

Our Cultural Celebration Sculpture.

We are sanding a massive slab of wood to make a sculpture. This sculpture will help celebrate the different cultures in our school and our community. The next step will be to varnish the wood.

I wonder what it will be?
