This week we have studied the traditional shapes and styles of Maori Kites. As part of our Matariki celebrations we have made our own kites and tested them out. We enjoy learning about our history and traditions. We are exploring how being a great learner often is a result of not getting things right the first time. Sometime we have to try many different ways to be successful. We had a lot of fun in between the down pores of rain!
Dear Room 4,
ReplyDeleteWow! What a neat thing to do for Matariki. Having a go at something and then trying different ways is a great thing to do as a learner.
Who was able to get their kit to fly?
What did you make your kites out of? I have seen children make traditional kites out of flax and sticks.
What is the Māori word for kite?
Mā te wā
